Saturday concert

Two years ago one of the fund-raisers we had for our Guatemala mission trip involved a young woman who had moved from our church to Nashville and become a singer sang at a club in town and donated all of the entrance fee receipts - $1,000 – to our mission effort. This time our church played host to Leslie McClure, who sang with a small band again, but this time in our sanctuary. In between sets we served Dominican and Guatemalan desserts in the Fellowship Hall. We also invited some people in the neighborhood, so this was a neighborhood outreach event and a fund-raiser. We asked for donations and netted about $1,500
.

Soni, our friend who went on the first Guatemala trip, helped orgafnize it. Carlos, Nora, Ana, Ken, Amy, Ada, and Sandra (the latter two also went with us) made the desserts. Leslie’s father John (brother of Marian), Doug, and Pastor Jane’s husband Brad played in the band, and Doug helped set up the sound.

Leslie, I thought was an even better, more confident than two years ago.

Like last time, Leslie was introducing songs from a new CD (this time – from the apropos-ly titled “Back Home to You”). To watch and hear a goofy video she promoted for the first song on the CD, click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7t53O4E2jY
