Mondoo in Humanities

Vincent's humanities class is winding up the year by studying Asian culture. Vincent volunteered today to bring mondoo, the Korean dumpling that we fry and put in soup (but in this case just fry), which we periodically serve at dinner parties (with the guest helping make it). We had planned to cheat and buy frozen mondoo (with meat) at the East End Korean grocery store. But, it turns out, the store was closed yesterday, and so I went to the grocery store and bought the ingredients and we made it from scratch. I prepared the dumpling filling during "Idol" last night and then afterwards - while we missed Senator Clinton's victory speech in WV - the three of us made dumplings with the filling and wonton skins. At 5 a.m. the three of us got up. Vincent walked the dog (which he's never done that far and never that early), I fried the mondoo, and then Stephanie packed it in with rice. When we got to school, Vincent was told that the teacher - his favorite, who gave him his class ring and sponsors the Denmark exchange program - had switched the day until next week. But several others were confused and brought food and the teacher later said this helped out in a way, by spreading the food over two days. She called the mondoo "yummy." Vincent explained that he (helped) make the food, but that we wouldn't let him fry it. Vincent also worry his martial arts outfit (gee) but said he didn't end up demonstrating any Kempo (many of his classmates having seen him demonstrate at the Brown talent show his first and sophomore years).
