Rock 'n roll night

David Cook's "Baba O'Riley" and Syesha Mercado's "Proud Mary" really sizzled on Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame night on "Idol." The night began with information about Cleveland, Ohio's Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and museum, which the three of us visited 11 years plus ago in winter 1997. Also catching our eyes were the slow ballads "A Change Is Gonna Come" (sung by Syesha) and "Love Me Tender" (by David Archuletta). I didn't think Jason Castro's (Dredlock Boy's) "Mr. Tambourine Man" (a label Rodney once awarded to me) was that bad, but the judges - who once loved Jason - were merciless on Jason ("Pack your bags," Simon said), and so he's probably gone, which will steer us away from a a miserable Jason vs. David Archuletta finals. We've been hoping for his removal for weeks. If he goes tomorrow, Jason can take solace in remembering that the #4 contestant two years ago, Daughtry (pictured above), has become one of the most successful "Idol" contestants ever. It may be Cook or Syesha's last night next week, but tonight both of them shined.
