Taking heat

A slew of NYS liberal groups have attacked Governor Patterson for his pick of upstate Democratic Congressperson Kristen Gillibrand to replace Hillary Clinton as one of the state's U.S. senators. The "Village Voice" also dug up what I didn't know - that Mayor Corning actually left Gillibrand's family (instead of his wife and their kids) much of his estate when he died in the 1980s. Gun control advocates and Latino politicians - no doubt among others - seem poised to challenge Gillibrand in the 2010 Democratic primary (although she apparently did OK at an appearance in Harlem with Al Sharpton over the weekend).
