Hours before it was to leave town for good, I saw the majority of "The Bank Job," what looks like a standard heist movie (though set in early 1970s Britain) which slowly draws in a whole lot of money, safe deposit contents, plot twists and complexities, as well as international intrigue, domestic politics, and royal shennanigans, along with a very complicated cast of characters including dirty cops, mean gangsters, ruthless spies, hippies, swingers, and black radicals in London and across the world. The movie has some still photos that border on pornographic and a little bit of gruesome violence, but is probably something Vincent could have gone to and would have enjoyed (although that may not be the case for the early part of the movie that I missed). By sheer force of personality, Jason Statham (pictured above with his leading heist mate, played by Saffron Burrows) gives the most memorable performance and gets the credit for not denying it when his wife confronts him about a possible romance with another woman A big twist: I wasn't sure until the end of the movie what one wonders about all along: most of it is true.
