Mom's old roommate in rehab, Barbara, apparently does not have a blood clot, and she'll go home today, as originally planned. Mom said she stopped by to talk with Barbara yesterday. In physical therapy, Mom got past 100 degrees in bending her knee. But it's possible she won't get most farther - that the reconstructive tissue has been consolidating - the PT staff have to push pretty far to get her that far. Mom apparently may not be able to straighten her knee all of the way. Mom had a slight fever yesterday morning and she notes that she still doesn't have much appetite. Staff weighed her yesterday, and she's lost almost 20 pounds (19 pounds), which seems worrisome. Mom already doesn't taste and smell much, and she hasn't had much luck forcing herself to eat, as she doesn't have an infinite amount of time to do so and at least when I was there she didn't have much energy (to eat or anything else). Still, Mom is slated to leave rehab next Tuesday, with my sister and nephew arriving a day or two before that.
As I sign of Mom’s increasing health (and getting bored/lonely?), she had spent a decent amount of time in the past couple of days watching TV coverage of the funeral, etc. of broadcaster Tim Russert (who she’d not previously heard of).
