I missed the beginning in which a World City couple - man from Syria, woman from Senegal - camp out in what turns out to be the NYC apartment of a sad (Anglo) widower/economics professor. But the prof (played great by Richard Jenkins) ends up letting them stay, and the prof and the Syrian American man, a drummer, quickly strike up a friendship, which revolves partly around drumming. There is much more, including some that is sad and comments on our crappy immigration system, but also the introduction of a fourth character, the drummer's mother (and some things that are happy). The acting is great, the plot interesting, and it was nice to see scenes of one of my old NYC haunts, Washington Square Park.
