Once again this year, the night before "Idol Gives Back" was not the best night at "Idol," as many contestants pick sappy songs. Once again this week, singers we generally don't like that much - Kristy Lee Cook, Jason Castro, David Archuletta - were at least as good as ones we do. Best song choices and our preferred performances were Carly Smithson's "The Show Must Go On" and Brooke White's "You've Got a Friend" (Smithson pictured above top, White above bottom). Still, unless they do like last year and Thursday night of "Idol Gives Back," don't send anyone home, probably one of the performers we like will get cut.
